Day 9 is about resting, eating well and getting ready for 2 potential Saturday games.
Rene circulated her notes on nutrition with suggestions for hydration and food choices. Lean proteins, easy to digest carbs and lots of water is the order of the day.
The team is together this afternoon and will help C-Mac celebrate his birthday at the bowling alley. There's guaranteed to be roars of laughter as our birthday boy is well known for his comedic lines and brilliant sense of humour.
The team curfew is set at 8pm tonight.
The big game is at 8AM in Le Colisee tomorrow.

In other exciting news, our Brandon media has given a shout out to the team with CKLQ 880 mentioning our victories and the Brandon Sun publishing our photo from the RNH game yesterday.
So if you're in Brandon today, please make sure to grab a copy of the paper so we can have the souvenir when we get home.
The Quebec City paper had 2 pages of articles on the Peewee Tournament. Our victory was noted in two lines at the bottom of the page, but we'll take it!! Perhaps when we win Saturday we'll get more space.

Day 7: City & Falls Tour
Jenn Anderson & Jenn Michalchuk organized a bus tour of the cottage island, Montmorency Falls and downtown Old Quebec City. The whole team, plus parents, Kassidy, Bailey, Rowan, Ryan and grandparents signed up. We were a group of 51 in total.
Our driver, Alain, spoke clear and fluent English. He was gracious and knowledgeable an expert driver and had a great sense of humour. We were on our best behaviour as Alain told us he phones his 91 year old mother each night and gives her a summary of his day. He even waved towards her house as we passed it on the highway.
We shopped at a chocolate shop on the island. We stopped for an hour at the Falls and to take a tram to the top if we wanted to.
Then we grabbed lunch at Old Quebec, down by the river, and lastly took a driving tour which included the Chateau Frontenac, the Plains of Abraham, the Parliament and more.
Here are a few of the 84,000 photos that we took today.
**** Just a quick note to our families, if you are on an MTS cell plan, your data is only 'unlimited' in Manitoba. You could be racking up a big bill sending photos etc, unless you are logged into a wifi location. Just something to keep in mind so you don't have an ugly surprise on your MTS bill. Rogers customers have unlimited across Canada, with nearly all their plans.****

Day 7: Agenda
Today is our first day off. No skating today. We'll use this time to rest and prepare for tomorrow's tournament game at Le Colisee.
It will be a morning game, 9:15 Eastern time. If you are planning to watch from Manitoba on the live tournament feed, make sure you give yourself plenty of time to set it up, pay and get tuned in. The game will start at 8:15AM in Manitoba.
The arena cell service is terrible. It is a battery nightmare. Therefore I won't be tweeting pictures, just text updates. (@cdntripseeker) The @aapwwheatkings account won't tweet during the game. They are on the bench. So if suddenly, your family stops texting you mid game, you'll know it's likely a dead battery issue.
Tomorrow's game is a deal breaker. We win, and we continue on. We lose, and we're done. So.... we're planning to win.
Today most people are going on a group tour to Montmorency Falls. Will report back with photos at the end of the day.

Day 6: Game Recap Switzerland
What a great game! You knew from puck drop this was going to be intense and evenly matched.
The Swiss opened the scoring in the first and netted two before we answered back. By mid-way through the 2nd we were tied at two. The Swiss replied with one more.
Then thanks to a couple Swiss penalties and a successful power play we were tied at 3 mid way through the third period.
With about 30 seconds to go in the game, we put one past their goalie and won 4-3 in overall, the best match of the week.
The goalies split the exhibition game. Riley first and Matt after.
Great effort by the whole team!
By the beginning of the third period, there was a large audience watching in the mall. Many other teams stopped to take notice and enjoy the action. The Swiss team is in our tournament division and it is possible to meet them again in tournament play.
Videos to follow later this evening.
