Day 9: Charging our batteries

Day 9 is about resting, eating well and getting ready for 2 potential Saturday games.

Rene circulated her notes on nutrition with suggestions for hydration and food choices. Lean proteins, easy to digest carbs and lots of water is the order of the day.

The team is together this afternoon and will help C-Mac celebrate his birthday at the bowling alley. There's guaranteed to be roars of laughter as our birthday boy is well known for his comedic lines and brilliant sense of humour.

The team curfew is set at 8pm tonight.

The big game is at 8AM in Le Colisee tomorrow.

---------------

In other exciting news, our Brandon media has given a shout out to the team with CKLQ 880 mentioning our victories and the Brandon Sun publishing our photo from the RNH game yesterday.

So if you're in Brandon today, please make sure to grab a copy of the paper so we can have the souvenir when we get home.

The Quebec City paper had 2 pages of articles on the Peewee Tournament. Our victory was noted in two lines at the bottom of the page, but we'll take it!! Perhaps when we win Saturday we'll get more space.

Day 7: City & Falls Tour

Just when you think things can't get any better!!!

Jenn Anderson & Jenn Michalchuk organized a bus tour of the cottage island, Montmorency Falls and downtown Old Quebec City.  The whole team, plus parents, Kassidy, Bailey, Rowan, Ryan and grandparents signed up. We were a group of 51 in total.

Our driver, Alain, spoke clear and fluent English. He was gracious and knowledgeable an expert driver and had a great sense of humour.  We were on our best behaviour as Alain told us he phones his 91 year old mother each night and gives her a summary of his day. He even waved towards her house as we passed it on the highway.

We shopped at a chocolate shop on the island. We stopped for an hour at the Falls and to take a tram to the top if we wanted to.

Then we grabbed lunch at Old Quebec, down by the river, and lastly took a driving tour which included the Chateau Frontenac, the Plains of Abraham, the Parliament and more.

Here are a few of the 84,000 photos that we took today.

**** Just a quick note to our families, if you are on an MTS cell plan, your data is only 'unlimited' in Manitoba. You could be racking up a big bill sending photos etc, unless you are logged into a wifi location. Just something to keep in mind so you don't have an ugly surprise on your MTS bill. Rogers customers have unlimited across Canada, with nearly all their plans.****

Best team selfie yet!! Thanks Rhonda!

Lost my goalie, so a D-man stepped in & made the photo save!

The pin trading continues

Less than 12 hours since the last post about pins and now I'm being bombarded by "did you see this one?" and  "take a picture of mine!"  They are having so much fun with the pin trading!

Here.... now it's your turn to see some of the pins we've acquired in the last half a day.

(I should note that the players opted to spend their whole evening at le Colisee trading pins, rather than go see a movie. ) It's THAT much fun!

I did get a bit of a laugh when one of the boys said, "one of the teams tried to trade us knives for pins! But we wouldn't trade them."  I asked "who?" and he replied.... The Swiss Team.  I burst out.... "Swiss? Swiss!!! They wanted to give you ACTUAL SWISS ARMY KNIVES?? Cool!! You need to make that trade!"

We actually play the Swiss team in exhibition on Tuesday. Perhaps they can re-negotiate that trade during the face off or something.
